About Me

My name is Anya and I’m a private practice counsellor in Burlington, Ontario. I provide individual therapy to clients of all backgrounds and in various stages of life. Drawing from a range of therapeutic and clinically proven approaches, I provide a safe and non-judgemental space where I help support individuals who might be struggling with life challenges, such as anxiety, stress management, or interpersonal relationship issues. While I enjoy working with a variety of clients and issues, my focus lies with women, and their partners, who have suffered the loss of a baby (perinatal loss) whether through miscarriage, stillbirth, or termination. This is one of the most profound losses a person can experience in life and my role is to support you in your grief as we work to develop positive coping strategies so that you can live a balanced and fulfilled life. Over the years I have provided supportive counselling and therapy to individuals who may be going through major life changes or struggling with issues related to mental health and wellbeing. I have followed my passion – completing Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) degrees, along with numerous continuing education courses in my field -and love what I do! Whether you’re dealing with a challenging situation, struggling through grief or loss, or simply wish to start a new phase of your life, I would love to provide you with the tools and strategies to help you reach your goals. I am humbled to be invited to share in my clients’ lives – often at a time when they feel most vulnerable. I consider it a true privilege to be able to assist you on your journey to create the life you truly desire.

What brings me joy?

Anya Malda outdoor photoOn a personal note, I love being active. Most days you’ll find me in the gym lifting weights, recently I was introduced to crossfit and it’s safe to say I’m hooked! I’ve experienced the positive impact that physical activity has had, not only on my physical health, but on my overall mental wellbeing. It’s generally my go-to stress reliever.

My second passion in life is travelling and learning about diverse cultures. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to volunteer abroad, helping those less fortunate build sustainable living quarters in several developing countries around the world. When I’m not travelling, you’ll find me daydreaming about it!
